As part of the 360 lifestyle at President students are encourages participating in a myriad of activities organised at President to enhance skills and personality development in a fun and exhilarating way. There is always something to do and at times you may suggest something that the college will back you in doing.  The broad categories of activities are as follows:

Sports

eca01The sporting activities at varies from recreational to ultra competitive. They include tennis, badminton, squash, swimming, diving, football, futsal and even board games [hey... you should see how competitive they can get]

The highlight of the sporting season is the President sports day which is compulsory for all students to participate in some way or another. There are many inter college, university, league championships that we enter and it is quite a ritual and experience to support the team.

Exercise is important at President and we regularly arrange trainings for our students whether or not they enter competitive events. It’s all about getting together for a good time and getting healthy at the same time.

Culture

Culture is so important to the total development of a person. Many do not or have never experienced the balance and benefits that culture can bring. Culture is also vital for a sense of belonging and respect for who and what we are. At President culture represents a vital aspect of the personality development module.

eca02Students are encouraged to take up an art form one of our expert partners or at the very least engage in a performance and experience culture. We expose students to vast variations of culture and expect a deeper understanding of those around us as well as ourselves.

The highlight of the season here is the President Play for which all students initial audition for and in some way will assist its success. Other than that students attend performances, workshops, classes, exhibitions and other related events.

There is also a student exchange programme that President organises for students to go and experience for themselves first hand the different aspects of culture as well as invite foreign students over to learn from them. There are often, through the student council, trips within the country and overseas for students to experience the different lifestyles and culture of those who share this planet with us. Students gain a profound sense of respect and are able to better manage diversity and eliminate apathy while gaining empathy through these activities and events.

Environmental Concerns

eca03Students of President in the past have worked with many organizations to spread awareness of growing environmental concerns. There are many short trip excursions to places of environmental interest.  Students are also encourages to join forces as volunteers for some environmental awareness events that are organised.

During orientation there is a section focused on who each individual can take steps to ‘change the world’ to a better place. Initiatives like The Greenhouse Run and Relight KL symbolise the impact and power of our students to get things moving in the right direction.

Community Building

This is often a popular activity at President for students. They are taught to empower others while empowering themselves. Many gain a sense of gratitude and empathy as well as gaining some very good friends in the meantime. eca04The college works with many partners as well as student suggested initiatives where an action plan is devised then executed.

The power of networking is often demonstrated and students realise how much can be accomplished where people rally together for a cause. They also learn many aspects of leadership to get people motivated to a cause and leading an event to a successful conclusion.

Students are exposed to the harsh realities of many slices of life and are given the opportunity to in some small way make things better. This reflects the words etched at the entrance of the college ‘enter to gain wisdom’ and at the exit ‘depart to serve humanity better’.

eca05Fun

There are many activities at President for students to just get together and let loose. From paintball to parties students are encouraged to bond and have a good time in a responsible way.  The college facilitate or co sponsors many of the events but the majority of events are student managed.  We find that it is important to have a balanced life at President and all work and no play did make jack a dull one.

Better

At the beginning of the term students are given an evaluation of who and what they are and then encourages to plot what they would like to be during their time at President. To facilitate this empowerment the college networks for the student to arrange some facilitation to enable this goal. It could be as simple as a student wanting to learn the guitar and getting another student well versed in playing the guitar to teach or a student who wants to learn the art of fine dining and the college getting an expert to sit and counsel the student for a while. We have gotten students into movies, modelling and as speakers for conferences. We root and moot for our students to be ambassadors and even try experiences that they always wanted to do at a price they can afford for example the experience to fly in a hot air ballon.

We do this to give our students the mindframe that anything is possible. We even show our students how we get these things for them and sometimes why we could not as a learning experience for them. The main thing is for our students to know and believe that anything they can conceive they can achieve.
